Day 01 Lima – Huaraz
Departure from the city of Lima by bus, about 10:00 pm, to Huaraz. The approximate duration of the trip is between 8 and 9 hours. Overnight bus.
DAY 02 HUARAZ: (Full Day) Llanganuco Lagoon + María Josefa Trail
Pick up from your hotel and Following the course of the waters of the “Santa Caudaloso River” we head north of Callejón de Huaylas, between the Cordilleras Blanca and Negra, visiting its typical Andean villages; we will live an unforgettable experience with nature in the Huascarán National Park “Natural Heritage of Humanity” and “World Biosphere Reserve”. Short visit to Carhuaz town. From Yungay town we will take the affirmed route that will lead us to the the Chinancocha Lagoon (also known as the Llanganuco Lagoon). From the Chinancocha lagoon we begin a one-hour and thirty-minute walk along the Maria Josefa trail and its quenuales forests within the purest natural surroundings of the high Andean flora and fauna. Lunch. In the
afternoon we will visit the Campo Santo de Yungay and its redeeming Christ. Return to the city of Huaraz. Overnight at Huaraz
Note: Maria Josefa Trail is made from May to September, the rest of the season is made Sendero
Chinancocha; this in view of the fact that the rains make difficult the walk.
DAY 03 HUARAZ: (Full Day) Chavín de Huantar + Museum
Breakfast. Pick up from hotel to the south of Callejón de Huaylas, taking the turnoff of Cátac, we will go to the Querococha Lagoon, then cross the Cahuish tunnel and reach the Conchucos area, until Chavín de Huántar. Visit to thearchaeological complex of the lazón de Chavín, gallery labyrinths, double bracket, sunken circular square, square plaza, clava head, obelisk Tello, the porch of falconids. Lunch. Visit to the National Museum of Chavin. Return to the city of Huaraz. Overnight at Huaraz
DAY 04 HUARAZ: (Full Day) Pastoruri Mountain + Climate Change Route
Breakfast. Departure south of the Callejón de Huaylas along the highway to Pachacoto, stop in the natural sparkling waters of Puma Pampa, the most beautiful exponent of the Andean flora: “La Puya de Raimondi” known for having the largest inflorescence in the world. Stop to appreciate the ancestral rock paintings.
Arriving at the park of the glacier we begin the ascent to Pastoruri (5,000m), 45 minutes walking (optional horses can be hired); as a security measure is not allowed to enter to the glacier, it is in an accelerated process of deglaciation due to the effects of climate change. For such motive, on the edge of the glacier has formed a lagoon in which you can see blocks of ice floating. Box lunch. Return to Huaraz. At the agreed time,
transfer from the hotel to the bus station.
